Livestock Prices Rise on Tuesday Receipts in Chicago Market

US Department of Agriculture estimates show Tuesday receipts of 12 000 hogs 8 000 cattle and 2 000 sheep in Chicago. Live hog prices advanced 25 to 50 cents while cattle gained 50 cents to 1 and sheep 50 cents to 2. Low receipts boosted price strength says traders.

Cattle Prices Jump on Kansas City Auction Day

Cattle receipts totaled 6 500 with 300 calves as slaughter steers rose up to 50 cents and some sales hit one dollar. Heifers gained up to 50 cents, 1 000 to 1 100 pound steers ranged 36.00 to 36.75, high choice 1 325 pounders at 35.25, other fed cattle 31.00 to 35.00, and stockers and yearlings traded from 34.00 to 39.00 with feeder cattle around 31.50 to 34.15 depending on weight and grade.

Des Moines reports Patrolman Clarence C. Wagner of Cedar Rapids has been called to active navy service. His loss reduces State Highway Patrol strength to 150 of 163 authorized. Wagner, 26, from Dubuque, served nearly three years and acted as a driver’s license examiner in Cedar Rapids.

Merchants Bank Up Five Places On National List

Britain to call 235000 reserves for 15 days training
