Serendipity and Faith Clash in Bach Talk at Chamber Dinner
Dr Marcus Bach, former University of Town religion professor, argued serendipity aligns with belief in God and is a new field amid ESP studies. He linked serendipity to a cosmic sense of Christ, urged irrational pursuit of the uncommon, and cited examples from his lectures and a butterfly tale in California. The Cedar Rapids Chamber dinner also marked a leadership transition for the chamber.

Traffic ticket bill blocked in Iowa House by one vote
In Des Moines the Iowa House fell one vote short of approving a stiff measure to curb unpaid traffic fines. The bill would have barred renewing licenses until tickets were settled, with about 44,000 tickets and an estimated 400,000 in fines tied to Des Moines alone. Rep. Robert Kreamer argued the plan would help cities collect delinquent amounts.
