Driver Suffers Jaw Fracture in Accident
IOWA CITY Rodger Bliss age 24 of Iowa City is in good condition at University hospitals with a broken jaw after a two car crash here Wednesday. Bliss drove a car that collided head on with one driven by Elwin Annis 18 also of Iowa City. Two passengers in the Annis car suffered bruises. Police said the Annis car skidded on ice and failed to yield half the roadway. Annis is charged with failure to yield half the roadway.

Fire destroys barn on farm near Volga
Special to The Gazette Volga fire destroys the barn on the William Larson farm a half mile east of Volga Wednesday afternoon. Cattle in the barn were rescued. Cause of the fire has not been determined. Volga firefighters kept the blaze from spreading to nearby structures.
