Hormone Therapy Raises Breast Cancer Risk in Women
A study of 46 355 women in a nationwide Reagan era breast cancer project found that estrogen plus progestin users have a 20 percent higher risk, and current or past estrogen progestin users show a 40 percent increase compared with non users. Each year of use adds 1 percent risk for estrogen only and 8 percent for estrogen progestin. Off therapy for four years or more removes the excess risk.

Alliant to buy stake in four Brazilian electric utilities
