Marion man appeals second time in speeding case

John B. Ryan, 24, formerly of Marion and now in Des Moines, who served five days for appealing a $35 municipal court speeding fine, has appealed to the Iowa Supreme Court. He was arrested last July for riding a motorcycle 70 mph in a 35 mph zone on the 400 block of First Avenue East.

Firecracker thrown at Gromyko's car in Tokyo

A Japanese rightist hurled a firecracker at Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko's car near the imperial palace in Tokyo. No injuries or damage occurred. Ketsuo Yamada, 30, of the Japan Patriotic party, was arrested and cited as protesting Russia's postwar claim to four small islands near Hokkaido. In Nagoya a rightist Jeep rammed a police car escorting Gromyko.

DES MOINES Iowa senate 40 to 3 approved a bill allowing the Iowa commerce commission to set interest on refunds from rate increases set by utilities and later judged excessive. Two Cedar Rapids youths arrested after stolen car chase

Cedar Rapids youths, 16 and 15, were arrested Tuesday after a chase in a car reported stolen ten minutes earlier. Deputies pursued along Eleventh Street SW to a T intersection where the teens fled into trees. The 16-year-old driver was captured after a foot chase. the 15-year-old passenger followed minutes later. The older youth was jailed for probation staff, the younger released to parents. The stolen car belonged to Evelyn Richards of 814 Tenth Avenue SW.

Fire at Hurok offices prompts evacuation in New York

Fire on the 20th floor of a 34 story building damaged the Hurok offices with five rooms extremely affected. Two injured treated at Roosevelt hospital in serious condition. Nixon Puts Eight Point Vietnam Plan To Paris Talks
