Trickly bridge problem hints at spades and diamonds
To steer West away from a diamond switch the key to the hand lies in Souths play to trick one. If he wins a miserly spade queen and crosses to dummy in hearts to take a losing club finesse West wins and will know what to do. The only suit left for the defense is diamonds and the game will go one down. South should win the first trick with his spade ace. if the club finesse wins the overtrick is lost. if the club finesse loses West will attack spades and South may make a game he was not entitled to.
