Barbara Shonka reports Cedar Rapids Woman's club program on the intimate relation of history and literature. Dr H J Thornton from the University of Iowa argued that history is a record of all human life and that art and literature enrich historical understanding, citing the Mayflower voyage as a vivid example. He noted diaries and letters as key sources and said American life evolves through European origin narratives. The talk was introduced by Mrs R K Threlkeld, with library lending, clothing drive support, piano selections by Marjorie Long, and new members announced.
