Lutheran church tightens rules for pastors moral conduct
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America approved guidelines outlining disciplinary grounds for clergy behavior including adultery abuse, sexual misconduct, alcohol or drug misuse, financial misdeeds, and breaches of confidentiality. The rules affirm marriage ethics and restrict practicing homosexuals from ordained ministry, with procedures for adjudication and appeals and penalties from admonition to removal.
