Control of Corn Borers Seen Possible
Dr. Harold Gunderson of Iowa State College ext says 90 percent farmer adoption of known controls would erase the corn borer as a crop pest. The 1945 survey shows seven counties with over 100 borers per 100 stalks, heaviest in Johnson and adjacent counties. Dr. Carl J. Drake notes life cycles tie to planting dates, with medium-early planting likely best for control.
