Kernels Hotel Tax Could Cover Shortfall In Lease
Finance Commissioner Lyle Hanson questioned restructuring the Kernels lease as payments fund stadium debt. He noted the city may need hotel tax dollars to cover a potential 180 000 annual shortfall if payments drop from 35 000 to 20 000 monthly starting April 1, and urged the Kernels to seek private financing. He asked if the city should act as a bank to cover the gap.
