School parents told of suspected meningitis case
About 250 of 500 Johnson Elementary students were told their sixth grade classmate in hospital with suspected meningitis. Tests are pending for a firm diagnosis while the child receives antibiotics at St. Luke's and shows improvement. Woman charged with purse thefts in Cedar Rapids
Cedar Rapids woman Christine A. Gardner faces multiple charges after arrest Friday for stealing seven purses from downtown businesses Lindale and Westdale malls and St. Luke's Hospital between December 21 and January 9. Worker hurt in fall at Corn Sweeteners plant
Geneseo man Steven K. Stottler, 23, fell about 20 feet while helping repair an empty fiberglass tank at Corn Sweeteners, 1350 Waconia Ave SW.
