Sheriff declines Keswick mayor post in Iowa town
Keswick elected official Ron George, 53, who won 33 write-in votes to be mayor, tells the City Council he cannot serve while also serving as Keokuk County Sheriff. Iowa officials say the roles are incompatible and present conflict of interest concerns. Janet Wade will serve as Keswick mayor with council approval. Keswick lies about 45 miles southwest of Cedar Rapids.
