Friends may call Turner east until 9 pm Wednesday and at church 10 am to 1 pm Thursday. Memorial fund suggested.

Emma Michalek, former Cedar Rapids resident, died in Imperial Beach California Monday after a brief illness. Born August 11 1890 near Center Point she is survived by daughter Ann Burbank Imperial Beach two sons Tony Michalek Detroit and Charles Michalek Cedar Rapids four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services will be held at Turner Chapel West at a time to be announced and she will be buried in the Czech National Cemetery.
Mario Acevedo, a retired Colombian Army lieutenant colonel who lived in Cedar Rapids for over a year about two years ago, died January 4 in Bogota at age 52. He worked at Collins Radio Co. during part of his stay here. No Cedar Rapids area survivors exist.
Memorial services were held at Turner Chapel East for Coquillette S E at noon Tuesday led by Dr. John P. Woods and Mt. Herman lodge. Burial followed at Oak Hill cemetery. Paulsen Bessie Irene had services at Turner Chapel East at 3 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Earl A. Huebner and burial at Cedar Memorial. Fryrear Sidney C had graveside rites at Linwood cemetery at 3 p.m. Wednesday conducted by Rev. William P. Leonard of Immaculate Conception Church. Turner East oversaw the arrangements.

Fire removed by school buses to Wahkonsa grade school and Fort Dodge hospitals. About 100 given temporary lodging in the school and 30 in a hospital. Two policemen, James Eslick and Jerry Griggs, were injured but treated and released. Eslick injured in an explosion, revived with oxygen, and returned to duty. Fort Dodge firemen aided by Webster City firefighters. Electrical power cut in many parts of Fort Dodge and hospitals activated emergency plans.
Washington. EPA Administrator William Ruckelshaus calls on citizens to push for stronger pollution controls at every level of government and in business. He argues 95 percent of man made pollution could be cut with existing techniques and urges citizen action and legal challenges against polluters.
The Linn county compensation commission awarded 27 500 for the highway commission taking 17.7 acres south of Cedar Rapids for Interstate 380 and a 0.4 acre temporary easement. In possession are Dorothy and Joe Krivanek with others named. A second award of 18 000 went to Milo J and Bessie H Machula for 30.3 acres on rural Mt Vernon road SE for a park, with 16 350 for land and 1 650 for consequential damages. Jurors include several Cedar Rapids and nearby towns.
Linn county supervisors awarded a contract Tuesday to Herman M. Brown Co. of Cedar Rapids to buy a Galion motor grader with snow plow and wing for 24 513. Competing bids were 28 435 from Altorfer Machinery Co. Cedar Rapids for a Caterpillar and 27 190 from Dukehart Hughes Tractor and Equipment Co. Marion for an Allis Chalmers.

Cedar Rapids city crews post no parking on numerous streets for snow removal on Wednesday. Wayne Murdock urges residents to move parked cars to driveways to aid plowing and prevent tickets or towing. Signs mark streets including A B avenues, C avenue, Twelfth etc in various sides and blocks.
Undersecretary of the Treasury Charls Walker outlined a tax plan moving relief forward with future increases to offset the cut. He argued the measure would raise investment, strengthen the balance of international payments, and create jobs as deficits rise then decline through 1980.
A blaze of undetermined origin broke out in the paint room of Kraus Manufacturing Co in Walford just after 1 p.m. Tuesday. The 150 by 120 foot building sustained smoke and heat damage beyond the fire room while production impact remains unclear. Cedar Rapids and Fairfax fire departments aided Walford's unit in fighting the blaze. George Kraus, owner, could not immediately estimate the total damage.
