The Cedar Rapids Human Rights Office opens on the fourth floor of the Memorial Coliseum building on May's Island, operating 8 am to 5 pm weekdays. William D. Widow of Adolph Filipi dies in Clovis New Mexico

Klementine Filipi born January 18 1884 in Czechoslovakia died in Clovis New Mexico on Monday. Arctic expert G William Holmes dies at 47 in Maryland

G William Holmes, 47, former Cedar Rapids resident and arctic specialist for the U S Geological Survey, died last Wednesday at his Severna Park Maryland home. Born in Cedar Rapids he was the son of the late Stewart and wife and left a brother James Holmes. He studied at Carleton College and earned master’s and doctoral degrees at Harvard. After leading Beloit College geology and later joining the Arctic Desert Tropic Information Center at Maxwell Air Force Base in 1951, he joined the Geological Survey in 1955 with studies in Alaska and Norway. He authored numerous scientific articles and belonged to several organizations.

Bar Advises Suspension of Wrights License

Des Moines AP A two year suspension of attorney Robert Wrights license was recommended by an Iowa Bar Association grievance commission after Wright a former NAACP state president and current NAACP national board member faced a hearing. He may appeal to the state supreme court within 20 days. The commission said the license could be restored after a year if Wright shows he has compensated a client for losses in a real estate transaction he handled. The panel found Wright guilty of indifference carelessness and a complete lack of care toward the client and her transaction.

Five Youths Arrested Clears Six Breakins

Five boys aged 17 and 16 were arrested and processed by the youth bureau. Their cases were referred to the probation office after they cleared six burglary incidents, including two at Franklin junior high, two at Martys West side car wash, and one at College Community school. Some loot was recovered. Kim A. Randall, 18, was charged with breaking and entering relating to the school breakin.

Legal Medical People Inspect Oakdale Facility

About 40 representatives from legal and medical professions toured Oakdale on Saturday to learn about problems facilities and policies. State Rep. Minnette Doderer said the visit was highly satisfactory and answered many questions. Attendees included Philip Leff Iowa City Bar Assn Dr Charles Eicher Mercy hospital staff and Dr A S Norris University of Iowa. Dr Larry G Rigler said the conference cleared up questions and reduced concerns about hospital policies and escapes.

Charged with Hitting C R Police Officer

Gerald E. Clinton, 36, of 711 Fifteenth Avenue SE, was charged with assault and battery after an incident at his home Sunday night. He posted a $110 bond and was released. Police said he grabbed his wife during a family dispute and struck Officer Stanley McClurg in the face before being restrained.
