The Cedar Rapids Ice Arena opened last night with the RoughRiders hosting the Rochester Mustangs in a USHL game. More than 4,100 tickets sold marked the first public look at the two sheet venue funded by a $6.7 million urban renewal bond repaid by Polar Ice.

Bush Gore lead in Iowa caucus poll

A Gazette poll shows Bush and Gore favored to win easily in the January 24 caucuses. Bush leads Republicans with 31 percent to Forbes 15 and Gore leads Democrats 35 to 13 with 43 percent undecided. Margin of error is 4.2 percent.

Voter likely to attend caucus amid mixed signals
