Homeland DHS reshapes Urban Areas Security Initiative grants
DHS will reserve about 100 million of 747 million UASI funds to pay for police counterterrorism in six high risk metro areas including New York City, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco Bay, and Houston. The six may spend up to 25 percent of their grants on personnel and operations, while 39 other cities compete for the remainder.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was sworn in for a second term in California amid a centrism pledge called postpartisanship. He spoke of defending centrism as American values while supported by his wife. In Louisiana a tornado-like storm killed two people in Iberia Parish and damaged homes.
