Autistic Deaf Girl Suit Challenges California School

Lori Cast, an 11 year old deaf and autistic girl, was expelled from the Riverside California school for the deaf. Her mother Estelle Case leads a suit arguing Lori has a constitutional right to state funded education. The case centers on whether Lori should receive education at a public school or custodial care at a state hospital. The Riverside judge plans a ruling after a second hearing, with appeals likely if the decision goes against the family.
