Police Cadet Turned Scriptwriter Seeks Reexamination
Hollywood AP James Basler, 21, a Pasadena police cadet for 2.5 years, failed the final physical due to high blood pressure. He wrote a script for The Rookies, based on Pasadena police youth camps, and seeks a reexamination while pursuing TV writing and other department applications. Basler notes a growing reform in policing and aims to work from inside the force. He and his wife both failed their polices exams for medical reasons. Basler previously attended Paramount directors program and pitched scripts to Spelling-Goldberg Productions.
