Gas price rise tied to refinery issues and road funding
Analysts project a 10 cent weekly increase over two to three weeks as summer blends replace winter fuel. The move aims to fund aging roads and bridges, with prices climbing 10 to 27 cents nationally on Thursday and gasoline around Iowa City reaching about 2.27 dollars per gallon. Local residents express mixed acceptance while officials defend the infrastructure need.

Housing plan changes over Rubins Building in Cedar Rapids
Arm strong Development's Jon Dusek said a new tenant would move into the Rubins Building, prompting him to not sell to Hobart Historic Restoration. Mayor Corbett called the reversal stinging as Jennifer Pratt noted Steve Emerson's Cedar Rapids school administration building renovation won the largest January funding award at 3.12 million for 32 apartments with on site retail space. Other awarded projects include Village West Apartments and Kingston Pointe among nine- plus total.
