Dubuque Wahlert defeated Cedar Rapids Kennedy 70 to 52 to claim the Mississippi Valley Conference boys basketball title. Dan and Scott Plondke sparked Wahlert with 37 points combined as Kennedy shot poorly and missed free throws, while Lorenzen led Kennedy with 23 points. Wahlert outrebounded 25 to 22 and held the Eagles to 10 of 21 at the line. The Cougars next face Cedar Rapids Prairie in district play.
