Ketogenic Diet Clears Seizures for Niko Cortessis
Five year old Niko endured up to 25 seizures daily until nearly two years on a ketogenic diet. Since April 7 2006 he has been seizure free though doctors caution most children taper after about two years. Experts note the diet’s effects vary and its long term mechanisms remain unclear. The Cortessis and Holt families describe strict food control and monitoring to maintain the seizure free state.
