Los Angeles Elementary School Sniper Kills Self After Rampage
Tyrone Mitchell, 28, opened fire at a crowded 49th Street Elementary School playground, killing a girl and wounding ten before taking his own life in a nearby house. Police stormed the residence four hours after the 2:23 p.m. attack, finding multiple guns inside. Playground supervisor Albert Jones, 50, was among the wounded. Mitchell, labeled a known narcotics offender, had a history with the Newton police division and a fiancée said his relatives died at Jonestown in 1978.
