The coroner's jury reported a felonious killing and suggested arrest of Horton and Johnston with Ruth Slagle a 20 year old school teacher as a material witness. The two suspects remained jailed as investigations continued with Johnston's father Lem Ross questioning and the mortician questioned about Horton's wife burial.
The Agriculture Department seeks a 161.86 million dollar appropriation for fiscal 1937, framed within a 500 million dollar soil conservation program headed for conference. A snow avalanche struck the Camp Bird mine bunkhouse near Ouray Colorado killing at least nine miners and injuring about forty.
