Iowa plan would push most Medicaid patients into private care
Gov Branstad aims to shift about 92 percent of Iowa’s Medicaid population to managed care firms starting March 1. Kaiser data show few states reach this level. 39 states operate with some private management, while only a handful have 90 percent or more. Democratic lawmakers oppose the move and prefer fee-for-service.
