Elk Eradication Plan to be Discussed in Waukon
The Iowa DNR will hold a public meeting in Waukon on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Waukon Banquet Center to discuss eradicating a free roaming elk herd. DNA Wildlife Bureau Chief Dale Garner and Iowa state veterinarian Dr. David Schmitt will attend. The agency has killed three elk after deeming them escapees to test for CWD and other livestock diseases. at least two elk remain near the Yellow River in Allamakee County.
