Washington AP report: Senate passage of a 500 million soil conservation subsidy crop control bill by 56 to 20 after eleven days of debate. Support came from 49 Democrats, 5 Republicans, Benson, and La Follette. opposition from 9 Democrats and 11 Republicans. McNary termed it unworkable and unconstitutional and moved to send back to committee.
