Mothers push for long term care funds in Iowa hearing

Cedar Rapids mother Cindy Smothers and Mount Vernon mother Kay Graber told of frustrating struggles to obtain public aid for nursing care for their disabled children. Nearly 400 attended a Des Moines public hearing hosted by the Iowa Long-Term Care Campaign urged federal action to reduce costs and expand access. U.S. Senator Tom Harkin and Representative Tom Tauke spoke, Tauke serving on the commission.
