Metro Middle students held after teacher assaults
Four Metro Middle School students were taken into custody by Cedar Rapids Police Youth Bureau for assaults on teachers. Administrators say the term assault may be overstated and cite district policy to file reports when bodily harm or disruptive contact occurs. Several incidents at Metro Middle, plus one at Washington High School, led to youths being turned over to the Youth Bureau and detention centers.
