Hogs Prices Fall 25 to 50 Cents as Receipts Rise in Chicago

USDA reports Friday hog receipts at 7 000 with cattle 1 500 and sheep 1 000. Hog markets eased 25 50 cents with butchers mostly 23.00 to 23.65, sows down to 21.50, and 450 600 lb hogs around 18.25 to 19.50. Sheep receipts 2 500 saw lambs 50 cents higher to 39 50, with mixed offerings and limited firm bids. Calves receipts 5 900 steady to 50 cents lower as cattle trade ranged from steady to lower with bulls rising slightly.

Infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Awbrey died shortly after birth at Mercy Hospital Iowa City. The service was held Wednesday at Cedar Memorial chapel with Rev. L Thompson officiating. Survived by parents and grandparents Clifford Awbrey Jesse Potter. Jack Awbrey, a University of Iowa student, will report to Des Moines Monday.
