Webster City welcomes a new central Iowa stockyards complex as the second major terminal in 75 years. Ray Switzer of Livestock Marketing Specialists Inc says the facility modernizes competitive marketing to raise livestock prices locally. The yard can handle about 10,000 cattle and hogs daily with automated feeders and a seven acre lagoon pollution system. Buyers and sellers expect quick payoffs, with sellers receiving checks within minutes after weighing.
