Iowans Test Pork Marketing Projects
More than 30 producers in northwest Iowa pursue four value added pork marketing efforts through ISU Extension. Groups include Lyon County Locker & Premium Meats selling boxed beef and pork locally while exploring federal inspection. Others target high end cuts for nationwide markets and natural pork expansion. A fourth group pursues door to door sales but shifts toward institutional markets with school and hospital buyers. The projects run through 2001, funded by Iowa Park Industry Center and ISU Extension, documenting outcomes for wider use.
