Iowa City craftsman turns woodworking into a mission
Richard Haendel, 62, senior principal engineer at Rockwell Collins, has built over 100 furniture pieces since 1993. He runs a studio at Cosgrove, sources wood from Iowa sawmills, and uses traditional joinery to craft heirloom pieces including a 80 inch sideboard inspired by Paris antiques.
