Taxi Fare Hike Approved In Cedar Rapids
Cedar Rapids approves first reading of an ordinance raising taxi fares about 10 percent and doubling insurance requirements. The new rates start with a $2.10 first mile, 90 cent drop fee, 20 cent per extra sixth mile, 15 cents per additional rider, and hourly rate rising to $12. Lawsuit seeks 300000 over tavern stabbing in Cedar Rapids

Marion pair arrested on tip from sales clerk
Two Marion men Neal A. Caraway and John H. Springer were arrested on two counts of second degree burglary and one count of third degree theft after a sales clerk's tip linked stolen stereo gear and ski equipment to incidents in Cedar Rapids. About $2,000 in items were recovered.

Cedar Rapids Drunk Driving Arrests After City Collisions
A Cedar Rapids woman, Rosemary L. Myers, 55, was arrested at L Street and 10th Avenue SW after her car collided with a parked vehicle in the 800 block of First Street SW. She faced drunken driving charges. Three other individuals were also arrested for drunk driving in Cedar Rapids Tuesday night into Wednesday: Ernest D. Dunkel, 35, at Eighth Avenue and First Street SW. Michael D. Anderson, 33, at the 1200 block of H Avenue NE, who also faced disobeying a traffic signal. and Harold J. Duncalf, 46, at 12th Street and 16th Avenue SW.
