Arthur Cassidy of Cedar Rapids Daniel Dickinson of Council Bluffs and Virgil Montgomery of Omaha were arrested in Council Bluffs after a Sunday drug store robbery. Sheriff Henry Eichorn has warrants for Cassidy Dickinson and Paul Porter for a break in a state reformatory toolhouse near Anamosa last month. Tools linked to burglaries were found, and the gang fled Cedar Rapids.
Belle Bever veteran society editor and feature writer for the Cedar Rapids Republican died in Des Moines at her niece’s home after months of poor health. Born August 22, 1856 in Canton Ohio she grew up in Illinois and Cedar Rapids. Her career began around 1900 with the Republican and continued until its merger with The Gazette. She is survived by relatives including nephews James B. and Harry Foster and grand-nieces and -nephew. Funeral set for Cedar Rapids Turner chapel 10 a.m. Thursday with numerous honorary pallbearers named.
Newark New Jersey Ellis H Parker a Mount Holly detective and his son Ellis H Parker Jr pleaded not guilty at arraignment on an indictment charging conspiracy to kidnap under the Lindbergh law Judge William Clark scheduled the trial for April 19 The case concerns the alleged kidnapping of Paul H Wendel brought from New York to New Jersey during the Bruno Hauptmann affair.
