Clinic relieves parents anxiety on prenatal tests and counseling
Iowa City genetic counselor Dr. James W. Hanson says prenatal diagnosis relieves parental anxiety and guides care rather than being a search and destroy mission. The Regional Genetic Consultation Service offers free newborn screening and early intervention, stressing informed choice, not moral mandates, with thousands counseled annually and high risk groups identified for genetic disorders.
