Branstad calls WSJ fiscal policy score a possible blessing
Gov. Terry Branstad reacts to a Wall Street Journal grade of 46 on fiscal policy, calling it a potential motivator to cut spending and push for reforms. The Journal detailed the index measuring spending per capita, state employment, tax growth, and tax-rate changes, with Branstad tied for ninth with two others. He notes prior steps to trim state payroll, veto waste, and oppose major tax hikes while pursuing minor levies and program shifts.
