Iowa Republicans back boosting K-12 funding to 2001-02
Iowa lawmakers tentatively support Gov. Tom Vilsack's call to raise base K-12 budgets by about 79 million for 2001-02. Leaders warn the 4 percent growth may squeeze other priorities as they balance state revenues. If approved, 374 districts would get over 1.82 billion in state aid and 935 million in property tax revenue.
