The Iowa Utilities Board approves a two way split of the 515 area, moving central Iowa counties to a new code this spring. Des Moines Ames Algona Fort Dodge and Winterset keep 515. Mason City Marshalltown Grinnell Newton Ottumwa switch. The change preserves seven digit dialing in most places and takes effect June 1 with a new assigned code.
