City officials announce a new policy through Frank B. Hall and Co. covering up to 51 million dollars with a 1 million dollar deductible at 100000 annual premium plus 9500 for an extra 25 million. The switch ends four years of self insurance and uses a fund built from a special levy to pay premiums and claims.

Freak carbon monoxide spike at Linn County Health Dept monitored site
Keith Erickson of the Linn County Health Department said a surprise high carbon monoxide reading occurred at the Health Department station on Center Point Road NE between 7 p.m. Jan 23 and 2 a.m. Jan 24. The 10.2 ppm level was just above the unhealthful threshold but has since fallen. Erickson suggested a diesel truck parked nearby could explain the isolated spike, noting traffic at that hour was minimal.
