Storms and floods disrupt northern California to Colorado
Severe weather and floods crippled transport from California to Idaho and Nevada. High water closed three transcontinental highways in northern California while flood damage hit U.S. 40 and 50 corridors and a 12 mile stretch of U.S. 40A. In Idaho and Colorado, rising temperatures and chinook winds sent floods into basements and toppled power lines with gusts over 70 mph. A Napa river surge swept a station wagon into danger and a dumped vehicle incident left a mother and six children scrambling to safety.
