George Junior Nowlin 32 of Keystone, serving two life terms for murder at Fort Madison, was treated Tuesday for two puncture wounds to the left arm at University Hospitals Iowa City and returned to the prison hospital. Officials are unsure of the cause but suspect a stabbing. Nowlin previously injured himself in June 1974 while in Linn County jail and was moved for safekeeping at Anamosa reformatory. He was convicted of first degree murder in the deaths of two Cedar Rapids teenagers in March 1974 and has been imprisoned since October 19, 1974.

Police charged Ted Joe Thrasher and Lewis Kelly Reindl with larceny in connection with the theft of an aircraft navigational instrument from Collins Radio Co. The duo, both 22, were held in county jail on $10,000 bonds. A DISTANCE MEASURING EQUIPMENT panel worth $2,500 was reported missing and later recovered.
Four drug charges filed Dec. 14 against Cedar Rapids men Robert Schladetzky and George Durin were dismissed for want of prosecution after phone calls and subpoenas failed to reach a key witness. Other actions include drunk driving sentences deferred or suspended for several defendants, and Craig Ackley pled guilty to impersonating an officer with a suspended 30 day jail term.
