Gov Clyde L Herring announced bids on 3 500 000 dollars of state refunding warrants to replace anticipatory warrants sold to Carleton D Beh Co Des Moines at 5 percent interest The plan aims to recall the entire issue while saving interest and requires executive council approval and bids with 10 percent certified checks.

Official machine recheck of Linn county precincts completed Thursday shows Milo Sedlacek leading James H. Yuill by 28 votes in the county treasurer contest from the November 6 election. Sedlacek's total rose to 12,092 while Yuill remains at 12,064. the canvass had previously credited Yuill by two. The recount was agreed to by both candidates amid a contest action, with hearings held in December and resumed January 3.
Official canvass tallies show Sedlacek with 154 votes in Marion Second, but machine checks list 164 for the Democratic candidate. Sedlacek challenges three absent ballots for Yuill in Clinton township after officials broke the voting machine seal. ballots were later found mislaid. The contest board includes Bert C. U S Court in Kansas City holds Congress cannot fix prices even in interstate commerce. Judge Merrill E Otis says the President also has no power to approve NRA codes that include price fixing, because such actions destroy fair competition.
