In Szeged Hungary an elderly couple Andras Rozsa 96 and his wife 91 were put in the main square after being half starved and later taken by police to an alms house. The pair had just marked their 75th wedding anniversary and were abandoned by their children. A 90 year old man was left in the square the same day under similar conditions.
A Munich based periodical asserts Columbus did not discover America in 1492. It claims Columbus used Viking maps to “re discover” America nearly five centuries after the Vikings had found Vinland, i e America.
Warsaw AP reports Edward Rydz-Smigly, newly named marshal of Poland, did not print fresh calling cards. He simply crossed out general and inked marshal over it on his existing cards, maintaining his unpretentious habits.
Berlin reports a 28 percent rise in accidents on new auto highways and country roads for the year ending October. The tally includes eight thousand fatal injuries and 170000 injuries among 263000 total accidents, mainly involving motorcars.
