Heartfelt POW Christmas Memories From Vietnam Camps
Porter Halyburton recalls eight Christmases as a prisoner of war after being shot down October 17 1965. In the early years he shared a cell with one other man and a simple cup of coffee and cigarette marked the holiday. As more POWs arrived each year the celebrations grew with decorations music gifts and skits. He notes the holidays were meaningful despite hardship and devoid of commercialism.
