OSLO AP A Soviet diplomat left for Moscow by air Saturday after a crash filled trip following a Christmas party. Reports vary on the number of crashes attributed to G. K. Ivanov, the Soviet Union s second ranking diplomat in Norway, with witnesses saying he struck at least 10 parked cars a lamp post and a wall while a Soviet embassy spokesman claimed only two cars and one house were hit. Norwegian papers had suggested he would be recalled.
Ralph Emerson Walker aged 87 of 2015 Blake boulevard SE Cedar Rapids died Saturday. A credit field leader in Massachusetts Minneapolis and Cedar Rapids over 60 years he ran Cedar Rapids Credit Bureau from 1933 to 1958 and advised Iowa Adjustment and Credit Bureau 1958 to 1963. He helped found Cedar Rapids Retail Credit Assn. and held life memberships in related groups. Born June 13 1883 in Belchertown MA he married Irene Smith in 1950. Gilbert H. Viner 54 of 1806 K street SW died Thursday after a short illness. He resided in Cedar Rapids since 1936 and worked 18 years as a millwright for Cryovac Co. He belonged to International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 238. Survived by wife Saranna Grime married June 30 1956 in Leon three daughters and four sons, his parents, a sister and two brothers. Mrs Milo J Vanous formerly of Cedar Rapids, died in Waterloo on Friday. Born September 29, 1892, in Cedar Rapids she lived there most of her life. Survived by husband, two sons E. L. Vanous of Waterloo and Marvin of San Lorenzo California, and four grandchildren.
Mrs Joseph Stejskal Agnes Stejskal 2245 C Street SW widow of Joseph Stejskal died Saturday after a brief illness. Born June 18 1885 in Czechoslovakia she came to Cedar Rapids in 1908. A blaze in a Tan Son Nhut edge slum of Saigon destroyed a square block of tin and wood shan houses. Two Vietnamese children died and five American servicemen suffered smoke inhalation.
