Rural and urban home costs converge amid rural shift

Hog Farmers Slow Pace of Expansion in Winter
Washington AP reports hog producers plan a slower expansion this winter with 6.1 million sows to give birth Dec 1 to May 30, a 5 percent rise from last year, foreseeing a 44.3 million head pig crop, also up 5 percent. For Jun 1 to Nov 30, 1976, pig crop reached 42.2 million, up 18 percent. Hog and pig inventory Dec 1 stood at 55.1 million, up 11 percent, including eight million sows for breeding and 47.1 million hogs for market, up 5 and 12 percent respectively.

Soviets May Buy Soybeans
Washington AP analysts say the Soviet sunflower seed crop has deteriorated, with harvest at about 90 percent and output seen around five to five and a half million metric tons. If oil shortages grow, the Soviet Union could increase imports of soybeans from the United States and Brazil. Russia has already bought about 1.3 million tons in 1976-77.
