Cedar Rapids craftsman builds Showman cinema camera replica
Cedar Rapids inventor Francis Lebeda, a woodworker since 1955, created a near original replica daguerreotype camera and flash units for The Greatest Showman. He used red oak and fine craft to fashion the working model, rented it to filmmakers, and plans to tour Cedar Rapids with the piece next summer. He notes modern electric ignition for safety and says directors like Scorsese and Spielberg demand exact details.
