New RARE group takes over raptor rehab in Iowa City
A new non profit, RARE Raptor Advocacy Rehabilitation and Education, opens to care for injured birds after the Macbride Raptor Project ends its rehab program. Co founders Jadeane Cancilla and Luke Hart emphasize licensed care, grants and donations, and a focus on birds such as a badly injured Cooper's hawk and a damaged screech owl. The project uses Gentle Heart Pet Clinic as a temporary center and seeks federal tax exempt status while inviting bird emergencies via a hotline.
