New York extended a pre Christmas rally as inflation data sparked gains. The Dow rose 13.68 to 808.47, IBM jumped about 11 percent to 295, lifting the market after Tuesday's dividend and 4 for 1 split proposal. NYSE volume slipped to 23.79 million while the composite gained 0.88 to 53.77.

Cedar Rapids processors saw soybean prices fall on January February March and new crops while yellow corn rose modestly on several crops. White corn and oats held steady from Thursday. Prices shown for 2:30 p.m. delivery. Pro Former Grain provided quotes. Also, Joliet reports Friday livestock totals with steers and cows firm and hogs mixed amid Tuesday receipts.
In Des Moines, UPI reports Friday livestock trading shows slow demand and steady or higher bids across gilts and sows. No 1-3 200-230 lb butchers bring 49.00 to 51.00, 230-250 lb 48.75 to 50.25, No 2-4 250-270 lb 47.00 to 49.50, 270-300 lb 44.75 to 48.00, sows 39.00 to 40.50. Estimated receipts 45,000 today with prior totals of 77,000 Thursday and 82,000 a week ago.
The Federal State Market News Service reports adequate to short supplies for live hens and eggs. January bookings are heavy as trading remains light and scattered into the holiday week. Bid prices edge lower with prices per dozen to producers and farm prices for Grade A eggs range from 49 to 57 cents, while other egg classes show mixed declines and regional variation.
UPI dispatch notes slow demand in beef and pork markets with limited sales. Choice steer beef remains around 85 to 86.50 per 600 to 900 pound ranges while Holstein type beef rises about 1.00. Pork loins 17 to 20 pounds listed at 90.50 to 90.75, hog cuts showing mixed moves and price declines on several sizes.
Qatar has blacklisted 31 Indian business firms for trading with Israel, accusing them of using Israeli materials for chemicals, drugs and other products. Samarendra Kundu said India asked the firms to meet conditions from Qatar's Israeli boycott office. New Delhi upholds a pro Arab policy in the Middle East.
