Rain-making urged for Los Angeles County
A. E. Brueington of the county flood control district urged supervisors to renew a $30,000 rain-making contract for next year. He noted drought has depleted underground storage and cited 1961 to 1975 spending of $5.6 million yielding 96.5 billion gallons of rain over the San Gabriel mountains to grow shrubbery and reduce erosion but brush fires in 1975 ended the program due to flood risk.
